Worst Supporting Actress Winners

Note: I didn't see The Bad And The Beautiful, Harvey, Rosemary's Baby, or Sayonara, but I watched their performances on youtube. Ruth Gordon in Rosemary's Baby: Completely agree with Twister on this. This is an incredibly bland and one-note performance. In fact, I don't even find it creepy. Minnie is pushy, nosy, and noisy but she didn't scare me at all. This performance is a miscalculation of both Gordon and the filmmakers. Josephine Hull in Harvey: Has it's funny moments, but it's overdone and not award-worthy. Renee Zellweger in Cold Mountain: She makes Cold Mountain interesting and it's sort of a guilty pleasure, but it's WAY over the top and her competion was far more deserving. Jessica Lane in Tootsie: A sleep-walking performance which was just a consolation win. Teri Garr was much better. Gloria Grahame in The Bad And The Beautiful: BORING and one-note. Miyoshi Umeki in Sayonara: You know, when I watched this I couldn't stop laughing because it was SO bad. Kim Basinger in L.A confidential: Flat out awful. Jenniffer Hudson in Dreamgirls: A performance so overblown she practically brings the house down (not in a good way). Jenniffer Conelly in A Beautiful Mind: Now at number 1. What can I say that I haven't said before about this travesty? So, what do you think? Which ones do you disagree or agree with?

I like Cold Mountain. It may be wrong...but I really liked it. Sure Renee was third for me...but I think she deserved at least a nod and despite her questionable career thereafter I don't mind her win.

I'm also fine with Lange...but I haven't seen Tootsie in a while.

Lange was okay, but nothing special. Teri Garr was great and deserved it a lot more. As for Zellweger, my ranking for 2003 is: 1. Holly Hunter. 2. Shohreh Aghdashloo. 3. Patricia Clarkson. 4. Marcia Gay Harden. 5. Renee Zellweger. What's your ranking?

I agree with you on all the comments, except for Ms Josephine Hull - this was a brilliant comedic performance and her timing is perfect, as she stills every scene she is in, just like Teri Garr in Tootsie who should have won. Also, I am biased because I absolutely love anything with Jimmy Stewart.

Perhaps if I had seen the movie I would have thought differently. And I agree that Garr steals every scene she's in.

Gay Harden, Clarkson, Zellweger, Hunter and never saw The Last Samurai.

Shohreh Aghdashloo was nominated for House Of Sand And Fog, not The Last Samurai.

I agree with all of them, except Ruth Gordon.

If you see the entire film, she is creepy as hell.

Totally blanked on that [embarrassing] I did see House of Sand and Fog but that was waaaaaaaaay long ago before I knew who Shohreh was so all I remember is the Titanic lady [Fisher] and Connelly...and Kingsley of course.

Sage, I do want to see Rosemary's Baby and I hope to soon. I knew that you agree with Gordon's win, but I thought you also agree with Connelly's win. Have you changed your mind?

I do agree with Jennifer Connelly's win, in a way. She was the reason I didn't fall asleep in Beautiful Mind. Although Marisa Tomei was great in In The Bedroom, so I'm surrda torn.

Good to see that you like Tomei also. If I'd have voted, I would gone with her.
